Lexus . How to Change the Rear Light on a 1995 Mazda MPVThe rear light on the Mazda MPV helps to illuminate the cargo area during night time loading and unloading of the vehicle. As with any lighting on your MPV the more the bulbs used the less efficient it becomes as a result. Damage to the bulb that causes it to burn out most often happens from driving on severely bumpy roads. This causes jarring and unnatural shaking. Slamming the cargo hatch too hard can also cause the bulb to burn out as well, because the rear light assembly mounts into the cargo door. You can change the rear cargo light bulb on the 1995 Mazda MPV right at home. The repair should take you 15 minutes or less to do. Difficulty:Moderately Easy Instructions Things You'll Need Socket wrench set Flat-head screwdriver Latex gloves Replacement bulb 922 Step by Step : 1 Lift and properly support the hood on your MPV. 2 Locate the battery and then identify which of the two cables connected to it is the negative. The battery should have a plus and minus symbol next to each cable on its case. 3 Remove the negative cable from the battery with a socket wrench. Reposition the cable away from its post and any other metal that it may contact. 4 Open the cargo door on the MPV. If you have a lot of items in the cargo area either remove everything or push it all toward the back of the seat. 5 Stand directly under the cargo door so that you're staring right at the cargo light’s lens cover. On the top of the lens cover, you should see a small half-inch horizontal line. 6 Remove the lens cover with a flat-head screwdriver. Stick the flat head on the screwdriver into the small slot on the lens cover and then carefully pry the lens off. Don’t use too much force, because you may accidentally break the lens cover. Once you remove the lens set it down in the cargo area. 7 Remove the cargo light bulb from its mounting position. Push the left metal retaining tab that’s holding the bulb to the left, using your thumb or index finger. Pop the left side of the bulb out followed by the right. 8 Put on a pair of latex gloves and inspect your replacement cargo light bulb. You should have bulb model 922. 9 Replace the cargo light bulb. The right side of the bulb goes in first this time, followed by the left. Step by Step : 10 Install the lens cover back onto the cargo light assembly. Place the cover into position and then gently push down on the lens until you hear it click back into place. Step by Step : 11 Connect the negative cable to the battery and tighten its bolt by hand. Set your 3/8-inch drive torque wrench to 12 ft-lbs. and completely secure the bolt in place. Check the cargo light to make sure it illuminates, then close the cargo door and shut the MPV’s hood. Tips & Warnings Make a note of the date and year that you replaced the cargo light bulb. This will help you in the event the bulb burns out sooner than expected. If the cargo bulb repeatedly has to be changed, you may have a water leak somewhere around the seal of the cargo door. Resources"Automotive Lighting"; Frederic P. Miller, Agnes F. Lexus . How to Remove & Replace a Rear Brake Light on a 1998 TaurusThe rear brake lights on a 1998 Ford Taurus show people behind you when you're about to stop, turn or back up. Since these lights are made of plastic, they can get damaged from a simple fender bender or from a neighborhood kid's errant baseball. When these break, you become a target for police officers, because it's illegal to drive with a broken tail light. Fortunately, Ford has made it accommodating for owners of their cars to replace these lights, and it can be done in under 15 minutes per side. Difficulty:Easy Instructions Things You'll Need Flathead screwdriver 3/8-inch ratchet and socket set Replacement light Step by Step : 1 Open the trunk. Use the flathead screwdriver to remove the plastic tabs holding the plastic trim to the inside of the trunk panel and the carpeting. Lift off the plastic trim and pull aside the carpeting to reveal the brake light housing bolts. 2 Unbolt the tail light housing from the body using the 3/8-inch ratchet and socket. Twist out the light sockets from the housing with your hands. 3 Install the sockets into the replacement lens by twisting them into place. Slide the housing into the body and bolt it in place using the ratchet. Reinstall the clips holding the carpet and plastic panels to the car. Take your wire or taper feeler gauge and locate the proper wire (if your spark-plug gap specifications say .035, look for this number near one of the wires on the gauge). Then slip that gauge wire between the two electrodes on your old plug. Figure 12-11 shows why you should never use a flat feeler gauge for this purpose. The reading will be inaccurate. Round gauge Lexus . Can you drive in a private trailer park with out a valid drivers license in Maine?
GMC Savana 3500 Passenger. * Flat gauge Wrong The gauge wire probably has a lot of room to wiggle around in. This may be because your old plug has worn down its center electrode, causing a gap that is too large. If the gauge goes in and out with a lot of room on either side, the gap is too large. If the gauge can't fit between the center and side electrodes, the gap is too small, which means that the spark plug is not burning the fuel/air mixture efficiently. Lexus . Is it nice and cylindrical, like the center electrodes on your new spark plugs? Has the electrode's flat top worn down to a rounded lump? Or has it worn down on only one side? Chances are it's pretty worn because it's old. When the center electrode wears down, the gap becomes too large. When you do your tune-ups yourself, you'll probably check your plugs more often and replace them before they get too worn to operate efficiently. 6. Clean the plug. Then either gap it or replace it with a new one, following the instructions in the next two sections. To clean a plug, gently scrub the gunk and goo away with a wire brush. Keep in mind that although you don't need to clean new spark plugs, you do need to gap them. Some plugs are sold "pregapped," but I'd check them with a feeler gauge anyway. 7. Repeat the entire process for each additional plug, working on only one at a time. A good way to keep track of which plug belongs in which cylinder is to use an egg carton as a container and put the plugs into the carton's depressions in numerical order as you remove them from the engine. Either replace all the plugs with new ones or clean and reinstall all the old ones. Don't mix plugs in varying states of wear. If you do, your engine won't operate efficiently. If you find that a few of your old plugs aren't too worn and are in fairly good shape, but you need to replace the others, clean and regap the salvageable plugs and store them in your trunk compartment tool kit for emergencies.
